Definition meeting IRTG from 29.05 to 31.05

New Challanges

I phoned the DFG on 27.08. They see major challanges:

  1. in showing why the IRTG needs two partner institutions on the German side. We have to make clear why we need the two institutions, how we guarantee the coorperation. etc.
  2. Postdocs should be requested to fill gaps or part projects for which expertise is needed in addition.
  3. On the SA side with one PI not at NWU. It might be better to have SAAO as external partner.
  4. Early carreer scientist need to have the full right to do PhDs at each institution.
  5. This causes a problem at CAU because you only can do this with a hablitation or on a W1. I requested to transform one Qulification position into a W1.

Venue

  • Workshop: Institute of Experimental and Applied Physics, Leibnitzstraße 11, Room 503
  • Dinner: Wednesday, 19:30 at the Längengrad (here)

Transportation to the venue

  • From Berliner Hof & Rabe's Hotel: Go to the main train station and take the bus 60s towards Botanischer Garten. Get off at Universitätsbibliothek (7 stops) and cross the street to take the stairs in front of you. On the right hand side is Leibnizstraße 11. There we will meet at the fifth floor in Room 503.
  • From Hotel Düvelsbek: Take a nice morning walk (about 1 km) to get to the bus station Waitzstraße/Holtenauer Straße and hop in the bus 60s where the others, hopefully, already reserved a seat for you :)
